The first written labor agreement in the IBEW was with a forerunner of Pacific Gas & Electric in 1900. The historic organizing effort at PG&E was completed in 1952 by IBEW Local 1245 after decades of courageous struggle by several generations of workers.
Over the years, our union has organized hundreds of employers and contractors in the public and private sector. On this website you can read about IBEW 1245’s successful campaigns to organize three of our largest employers: PG&E, Sierra Pacific Power (NV Energy), and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.
The members of IBEW 1245 stand on the shoulders of countless workers who fought for a safer workplace, a better standard of living, a voice on the job. We honor their memory by carrying on that fight.
