Stewards1

Stewards

IBEW 1245 has three types of stewards:

SHOP STEWARDS ensure that their members are heard and represented fairly in all aspects of union activity, including bargaining, grievance representation, and internal union affairs such as election of union officers.

SAFETY STEWARDS understand safe work practices, follow them, encourage others to do the same, and intervene when necessary to address unsafe work practices.

ORGANIZING STEWARDS  dedicate time and energy to 1245’s organizing activities and campaigns. They work closely with our staff team of organizers to recruit and mobilize others to  join them.

If you’re not currently a steward, but want to look into it a little further, make time to talk to a steward in your area about his or her responsibilities. Let your Local 1245 Business Representative know if you think you might be interested in being considered for shop, safety or organizing steward.
