The winners of IBEW 1245’s 2026 scholarship program were recognized at the 2nd Quarter Advisory Council meeting, where they had the opportunity to read their winning essays before delegates from across the union.
This year’s essay topic asked students to explore a question central to the labor movement: “How have nonunion workers benefited from union collective bargaining?”
The scholarship recipients were:
- Wyatt Wilson, recipient of the 2026 Ronald T. Weakley Line School Scholarship — Read Wyatt’s winning essay
- Vincent Navarro, recipient of the 2026 Sandoval Scholarship — Read Vincent’s winning essay
- Tyler Berti, recipient of the 2026 Stalcup Scholarship — Read Tyler’s winning essay
Each student offered a unique perspective on the ways unions help raise standards not only for their members, but for workers throughout entire industries. Their essays highlighted the impact of collective bargaining on wages, workplace safety, benefits, working conditions, and labor protections that often extend beyond union workplaces.
Following their presentations, Advisory Council delegates applauded the students for their thoughtful work and commitment to understanding the value of organized labor.
