It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Brother Luafton “Lu” Hanson, a cable splicer with Canus Services, Inc., who died following a tragic accident on February 20. He was only 42 years old. Brother Hanson was initiated into IBEW Local 1245 in October 2018 and was based in Manteca.
Brother Hanson was traveling to his work assignment at a PG&E powerhouse on the morning of February 20 when he was involved in a head-on collision with a third-party vehicle. He was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Lu was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to so many. Those who knew him describe him as someone who brought energy and light wherever he went — the kind of person who made a room louder with laughter the moment he walked in. His spirit, humor, and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him, and his loss is being felt deeply across his family, friends, and union brothers and sisters.
A GoFundMe has been established to help support Lu’s family during this incredibly difficult time. Fundraiser by Angela Seamas : In loving memory of Lu Hanson.
Please keep Brother Hanson’s family in your thoughts and prayers. If you are able, consider donating or sharing the fundraiser to help provide support for his loved ones during this difficult time.
