On April 11, 2023, IBEW 1245 Executive Board members Cecelia De La Torre, Willie Garris, and Scott Huddelson joined Business Manager Bob Dean and several 1245 staffers to celebrate the 93rd birthday of labor legend Dolores Huerta. True to her roots, Huerta’s birthday celebration also served to support the Dolores Huerta Foundation, which is committed to continuing the vital work of labor organizing.
The event was packed with union, community and elected leaders who paid tribute to Sister Huerta for her lifetime of work, which dramatically impacted farmworkers and the entire labor movement. Speaker after speaker acknowledged her tireless commitment to organizing and supporting politicians who support working families.
Sister Huerta thanked IBEW 1245 for supporting her foundation and for being the gold standard when it comes to organizing and solidarity.
