We are saddened to learn of a workplace accident that occurred in IBEW 1245’s jurisdiction yesterday afternoon, claiming the life of one IBEW member and injuring another. The two men were outside line travelers from other IBEW Locals, working on grid hardening projects for Par Electric on PG&E property at the time of the accident. Preliminary reports indicate that they fell from an insulated work platform (baker board/diving board) on a transmission pole while working near Grays Flat in Plumas county.
“Today, we mourn the loss of a dedicated IBEW brother who left this world far too soon, and our hearts go out to his family, friends and colleagues who are grappling with this tragedy,” said IBEW 1245 Business Manager Tom Dalzell. “This sad news is sure to be weighing heavily on all of our minds today, and you may find it difficult to concentrate on work. If the grief is impacting your ability to focus on the job, help and resources are available to you, and we urge you to reach out if you need assistance. Please continue to do all you can to stay safe at work, today and every day.”
The accident is under investigation, and IBEW 1245 staffers are actively participating in the process. We will share more information on our website as it becomes available.
