UWUA Member Killed in Gas Explosion in Southern California

July 15, 2019

We are deeply saddened to report that on Monday, July 15, a utility worker was killed and 15 other people were injured in a gas explosion in Riverside County, CA. According to news reports, a Southern California Gas crew was responding to a natural gas line that was damaged by a contractor working on a house in the town of Murrieta. The explosion, which occurred shortly after the crew arrived on the scene, took the life of 31-year-old Wade Kilpatrick, a member of UWUA Local 132

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Brother Kilpatrick,” said IBEW 1245 Business Manager Tom Dalzell. “This tragic incident is a sad reminder that the commodities which our members work with are dangerous and potentially fatal. We send strength to our brothers and sisters at UWUA 132 as they cope with this devastating loss.”

Brother Kilpatrick’s family could use all the support they can get during this difficult time. Please send condolences and donations using the link below.
