We are deeply saddened to report that on Monday, July 15, a utility worker was killed and 15 other people were injured in a gas explosion in Riverside County, CA. According to news reports, a Southern California Gas crew was responding to a natural gas line that was damaged by a contractor working on a house in the town of Murrieta. The explosion, which occurred shortly after the crew arrived on the scene, took the life of 31-year-old Wade Kilpatrick, a member of UWUA Local 132
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Brother Kilpatrick,” said IBEW 1245 Business Manager Tom Dalzell. “This tragic incident is a sad reminder that the commodities which our members work with are dangerous and potentially fatal.
