Last year, IBEW 1245 members at PG&E overwhelmingly approved a two-year extension to the physical and clerical agreements. That extension did not include benefits, so this year, Local 1245’s Benefits Bargaining Committee will have the opportunity to negotiate over the PG&E benefits agreement. As always, these changes begin with you.
You can submit your proposals at unit meetings in March and April. You can also give your proposals directly to your IBEW 1245 business rep or a member of the bargaining committee. Or if you prefer, you can submit your proposal online using the form at the bottom of this page.
(Please note that the benefits agreement includes eight sections — Medical, Dental, Vision, LTD, 401k, Pension, Life Insurance and Retiree Medical. Proposals that do not pertain to these specific topics cannot be considered at this time.)
You can submit as many proposals as you wish, but please use a separate form for each proposal. The last day to submit your proposal is April 30th.
The union’s bargaining committee will meet in April and May to review the proposals submitted by members and meet with our bankruptcy attorneys. The committee will read every proposal, give each the consideration it deserves, and evaluate the potential risks and benefits of opening up bargaining during the company’s bankruptcy proceedings. The committee will then decide if the union will enter full benefits negotiations with the company (with the understanding that the company would likely have a lost list of concessions it wants) or pursue an extension of the current benefits agreement for one or two years.
Should the committee decide to open up bargaining, a list of union proposals will likely be exchanged with the company in early summer. As always, the union will aim to reach a tentative agreement in time for members to study and vote on it prior to the end of the year.
If you have any questions, please contact your business rep. Thanks in advance for your participation in the process.
