The first week of February was busy for the peer program as members made presentations to coincide with shop steward trainings and safety kick-offs in Reno and Las Vegas.
At the invitation of Nevada Energy and IBEW Local 396, Control the Pressure committee members Marty Kumle and Keith Hopp and Hold the Pull member Fred Aboud spoke to a crowd of shop stewards in Reno. HTP members Casey Kelley and Rob Azevedo traveled to Las Vegas and spoke to 800 NV Energy members there. On February 4, there was a presentation at the NVE safety summit and a Keep the Clearance presentation in Placerville for Davey Tree Service. HTP members Dan Mayo and Jerry De Bacca also presented at the public sector stewards training. Additionally, Control the Pressure will be hitting five GC safety kick-offs and a supervision meeting in San Ramon in March.
On February 12, peer consultant John Kent and HTP committee member Rob Azevedo went to Idaho Falls at the invitation of IBEW Local 57 ABM Scott Long, where they presented at the Idaho Falls Energy safety kick-off. Local 57 wants to promote a peer program to the utility. All IFP employees were present including their senior management. By all indications a peer program looks favorable there.
