The company and union bargaining committees have scheduled their next meeting in Vacaville on Dec. 1. We expect the company to respond to our proposal for limited general negotiations consisting of a four-year contract with a 13% wage increase over the course of the contract.
Given the time frame, it is probable that a new agreement will not be ratified by Dec. 31. However, under the Evergreen clause, the current contract will continue in place, as neither PG&E nor Local 1245 has terminated the agreement. There is no automatic cost-of-living adjustment, which means that wages will stay the same on Jan. 1. The union will push for a retroactive payment of the 2015 wage increase as part of the forthcoming tentative agreement.
