Peer consultant John Kent and committee member Mike Van Egmond made a return trip to IBEW Local 1547 in Alaska during the first week in October, travelling to five additional locations in Alaska to aid in the effort to expand Local 1547’s “Keep Out of the Bite” peer to peer initiative. There is one more trip planned in the future with another committee member but the date and committee member have yet to be selected.
The Hold the Pull program has truly become a national and international program, as requests for information on the program continue to come in. At the National Safety Council Labor Division meeting in Atlanta, two IBEW Locals, Local 191 in Everett, Washington and Local 17 in Detroit requested information on the peer programs. Local 191 is an inside wire local and became aware of HTP through a report by Business Manager Tom Dalzell at an IBEW business managers’ meeting. Hold the Pull is already a known entity in Suriname as introduced by Local 77’s Brady Hansen.
