NBLC President and IBEW Local 551 Business Manager Jack Buckhorn addressed the crowd and thanked everyone for all the hard work they have done so far on the living wage ordinance.
IBEW 1245 joined our brothers and sisters affiliated with the North Bay Labor Council to celebrate a small victory in the ongoing fight for a decent living wage ordinance.
Supervisors Susan Gorin and James Gore have put a halt to the flawed living wage ordinance the county originally planned to put in place. That ordinance greatly curtailed and limited recipients who truly needed a real and honest minimum wage ordinance. The County’s consultants had gutted and stripped the potential ordinance if all the work our labor-friendly friends had put into it.
Today, the County Supervisors will pull that ordinance off the table and again sit down with labor to work on a decent and just living wage ordinance.
