IBEW 1245’s Janval “JV” Macor stood with labor and community members outside Congressman Mike Thompson’s Napa office on April 8 to protest fast-tracking a major new trade deal known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The President and many members of Congress support fast-tracking because it would give the President authority to negotiate and approve the deal more quickly than following the rules, which require Congressional approval. A coalition within Congress is building, however, between a group of Democrats and some Republicans, to oppose fast-track. Read more about the deal and other protests 1245 has been involved in here.
