Tree trimmer falls in Santa Rosa

June 12, 2014

A tree trimmer working in the Santa Rosa area fell approximately 50 feet when a branch that was supporting his climbing line broke.

The trimmer impacted the forest floor on his side and rolled down a culvert,   suffering bruises and a compression fracture in his back. A 50’ fall usually results in a fatality but conditions were different since the forest floor was blanketed with brush and soft material.

IBEW 1245 Business Representative Carl Lamers visited the tree worker in the hospital the next day after the mishap and reported that the prognosis for full recovery was good but it is expected that he will be in a back brace for 3-4 months.

The company is investigating the cause of the accident.
