We spent first half of the day Friday at Citi Field staging area. All crews were ecstatic to get to work, equipment and trucks having finally arrived.
The damage on the news does not compare to seeing it in person. Unbelievable how much work there is to be done. Poles are quite congested with facilities. All wire is either weatherproof or frequently underground wire on cross arms. It is getting quite cold, mid-30s tonight. Crews have been treated quite well, although there is a huge scarcity of hotel rooms, and tonight there will be many PG&E rooms with three people in each. Chad Lavezzo, GC Foreman — Davis: “Con Ed has been treating us like royalty.”
Interesting tailboard we were part of today, with 20 PG&E employees and six Con Ed employees. Great amount of respect from both sides, led by Mike Martinez and Terry Daniels from PG&E and Angelo from Con Ed. The work and elements are unlike what they have seen in other excursions outside PG&E system. Con Ed crews have had nothing but praise for PG&E’s work ethic and professionalism. Gas lines are 200 cars deep if you find one with power and fuel.
We have seen at least 50 different contractors and utilities in just NY/NJ, from as far away as Quebec, Georgia and both Southern Cal utilities.
