Members unanimously ratified a new agreement with the City of Berkeley on Oct. 25.
The three-year deal maintains the city’s 8% contribution to the EPMC, 100% medical for Kaiser and a Health Net plan, and increases in the Retiree Medical.
The agreement also provides for improvements in overtime language, compensatory time accumulation, and the temporary upgrade provision.
New employees will participate in the second-tier pension formula as specified in AB340, but will not make the mandatory 50% contributions for the term of the contract.
There is no COLA for the 3-year term of the contract, and new employees will not have the sick leave cash out provisions that the current employees have.
Serving on the union bargaining committee were Jim Milstead, Greg Marwick, Bill Edwards (alternate), Business Rep. Al Fortier and Assistant Business Manager Ray Thomas.
