Local 1245 members and supporters made their presence felt during a meeting of the Paradise Irrigation District’s Board of Directors on Sept. 21. The bright lime green shirts, a visible sign of solidarity, were hard to miss.

UPDATE: Members of Local 1245 at Paradise Irrigation District have rejected the District’s offer. The union is now seeking to establish dates for negotiations to resume.

IBEW Local 1245 Assistant Business Manager Ray Thomas brought the union’s message before the Board of Directors of the Paradise Irrigation District on Sept. 21.

Thomas pointed out the the inequities in wages and pensions that our members are currently experiencing at the District.

The District’s medical proposal is also a major issue at the bargaining table. Thomas said the proposed cap on company contributions to the medical premium would place a serious financial burden on the members.

Also attending the meeting in support of the members were Local 1245 Business Reps Kit Stice and Sheila Lawton.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for Oct. 6.
