Local 1245 continues to negotiate with Sacramento Regional Transit.
The District’s takeaway package remains on the table. They are proposing a number of “options” in reaching their goal of no increases in labor cost from 2008. The Union’s bargaining committee continues to analyze these options in order to determine the best course of action.
Bargaining has been stalled out while the District is waiting for PERS to provide estimates on the cost of a union proposal to move employee medical benefits to PERS providers. There is a potential cost saving to the District that could translate to our members, but the parties are waiting to hear from PERS what that savings would look like. One of the proposals of our bargaining unit is to receive post retirement medical, and PERS requires that for participating in their medical insurance.
There are three bargaining dates set for December.
Members at Regional Transit are encouraged to attend unit meetings as well as regularly check the website for updated information.
