NEW PENSION CALCULATOR FOR PG&E RETIREMENT PLANNING

October 13, 2009

NEW PENSION CALCULATOR FOR PG&E RETIREMENT PLANNING

IBEW-represented employees can use a calculator now available on the Pacific Gas & Electric Intranet to create an estimate of their pension.

The estimate that is produced by the online calculator is exactly the same as the estimate that would be produced by the HR Service Center when an employee calls.  The calculator includes all joint pension options, and allows employees to enter estimated pay, any retirement/termination date they choose, and any joint pensioner information they would like to model.

Employees are still free to call the HR Service Center for a calculation of they wish.  There will also likely still be certain special cases where the employee is best off getting the help of the HRSC (e.g. employees with both represented and non-represented service) but for the vast majority of people interested in their pension benefit, the online calculator is quick and easy.

Employees wishing to begin their actual retirement still need to contact the HR Service Center at least 90 days in advance of their desired retirement date.

The calculator is located on the PG&E Intranet at: https://wwwhr.utility.pge.com/retireestimate/
