IBEW Local 1245’s unit at the Turlock Irrigation District on Sept. 30 hosted a candidates forum for the upcoming board of directors election in November. The forum was co-hosted by the Turlock Irrigation District Employees Association.
Four candidates, vying for two board seats, attended the forum. None of the candidates is an incumbent. One candidate is unopposed but attended anyway. One board member, Phil Short, recently passed away and his seat will be filled by appointment once the newly elected board is seated.
Local 1245 Unit Chairman Aaron Baker presided over the forum. Candidates were asked to share their vision for the future of the district and to identify operational challenges. They were also invited to share their particular qualifications.
