IBEW 1245 is sending two teams to Kentucky this weekend to put their skills to the test against some of the best gas workers in the country at the 2026 National Gas Rodeo, Sept. 16–18 in Florence.
The National Gas Rodeo brings together gas workers from across the country to compete in timed events that test the same skills they use every day on the job, with an emphasis on safety, speed, accuracy and teamwork.
Representing IBEW 1245 this year are:
Two-Person Team — “Squeeze Easy”
GC Gas, Salida Yard

Four-Person Team — “Gas Holes”
GC Gas, Fresno Yard
German Luna
Sean Conroy
Manuel Molina
Freddy Mora
The teams will compete in qualifying events including Meter Set, Service Install, Pipe Cut and Hand Dig. The top teams in both divisions will advance to the final relay event.
The National Gas Rodeo dates back to 1991 and was created to give gas workers an opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against some of the best in the industry. Today, the competition draws teams from utilities across the country.
