IBEW 1245’s South Valley Open (SVO) Golf Tournament was held this spring at Dragonfly Golf Course in Madera, California. 40 teams competed in this year’s sold-out event, which filled all available team spots in just 3.5 hours. Teams included IBEW 1245 members, friends and family, Signatory Contractors, and Utility representatives from across the region.
Congratulations to Team “Mashed Potatoes” — Hunter Williamson, Drew Allen, Carson Burton, and Alec Burton — for capturing first place honors. The victory marks their second South Valley Open championship, having also won the tournament in 2024.
The success of this event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, including PJs Rebar, Outsource Utility Contractors, MGE Underground, Ditch Witch West, Tyndale FR, Milwaukee Tools, Backswing Golf, S&S Tools, Pro Energy Contractors, Tioga Brewery, Boxer Law, Lampe Dodge, and Roger Dunn Golf. Their continued support helps make this tournament a premier event while raising funds for the Injured Worker Fund.
A sincere thank you goes out to all the golfers who participated and to the many volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to make the day a success. Events like this are only possible because of the commitment and support of our members, families, sponsors, and volunteers.
Mark your calendars now for the 2027 IBEW 1245 South Valley Open Golf Tournament, scheduled for April 10, 2027. We look forward to seeing everyone there for another great day of golf, camaraderie, and support for a worthy cause.
“When I started this tournament, my goal was simple: create a reason for our members to come together outside of work that wasn’t a funeral. Seeing the friendships, camaraderie, and support that have grown from this event has been incredible. The fact that it sells out in just a few hours every year tells me that our members value these connections as much as I do. That’s what this tournament is really about.”
