Members of the IBEW 1245 Veterans Committee alongside IBEW 1245 Business Manager Bob Dean recently joined community leaders, supporters, and fellow Veterans at the Yuba-Sutter Veterans Stand Down Fundraiser Dinner, reaffirming the Committee’s commitment to supporting those who have served our nation.
Representing the Committee at the event were Chair Mike Tilden, Co-Chair Kaycee King, Secretary-Treasurer Neil Norris, Sergeant-at-Arms Brock Navarro, and IBEW 1245 Business Manager Bob Dean. Their attendance underscored the Brotherhood’s ongoing dedication to ensuring Veterans have access to the resources, support, and opportunities they have earned.
The Yuba-Sutter Veterans Stand Down is a long-standing community effort focused on assisting Veterans in need by connecting them with critical services, resources, and support networks. The annual fundraiser dinner helps provide the financial resources necessary to continue that mission throughout the year, supporting the Stand Down event held each August.
For the IBEW 1245 Veterans Committee, supporting organizations like the Yuba-Sutter Veterans Stand Down aligns closely with the Committee’s guiding principle to leave no Veteran behind. Through outreach, advocacy, mentorship, and community partnerships, the Committee works to help Veterans successfully transition into civilian careers while ensuring they remain connected to the support systems they have earned through their service.
“The Yuba-Sutter Veterans Stand Down fundraising event was a powerful opportunity for our community and like-minded individuals to come together in support of Veterans,” said Co-Chair Kaycee King. “Witnessing the community unite for this cause is a true reminder of what outreach and support should look like. It reinforces the idea that when we stand together with compassion, we can make a meaningful difference.”
The evening also provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with Veteran-serving organizations and community partners while highlighting the role organized labor can play in supporting those who have worn our nation’s uniform.
Business Manager Bob Dean reflected on the event’s impact, noting that it was encouraging to see both IBEW 1245 and the broader community come together in support of local Veterans. “A good cause celebrated with good company,” Dean said.
Committee Secretary-Treasurer Neil Norris was impressed by both the scale of support and the community involvement. “The amount of support the event receives was awesome,” Norris said. “To see that many people in attendance who weren’t active military or Veterans themselves, but were there simply because they support Veterans, was really cool to see.”
Sergeant-at-Arms Brock Navarro echoed those sentiments, describing the fundraiser as a great event for attendees while also raising significant funds to support the Veteran community.
IBEW 1245 is proud to continue to support initiatives that honor the service and sacrifice of our nation’s Veterans and looks forward to continuing its partnership with organizations dedicated to improving the lives of those who served.
