NV Energy IBEW 1245 member Ryan Morris works at the Pinenut Substation in Gardnerville, Nevada.
The California–Nevada Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (Cal/Nev JATC) is now accepting applications for its Substation Technician Apprenticeship Program—one of the most rigorous and highly skilled training pathways in the electrical industry.
As a Substation Technician, you will build, maintain, operate, and repair electrical power substations, switchyards, and associated systems that keep communities powered safely and reliably.
This program prepares the next generation of substation professionals through a combination of home study, classroom instruction, and 7,000 hours of paid on-the-job training. Upon successful completion, apprentices become eligible for Journeyman Substation Technician status. More details can be found at the Cal/Nev JATC website.
