The 35th Annual IBEW 1245 Golf Tournament — widely known as the North Valley Open — once again proved to be one of Local 1245’s most anticipated traditions. This year’s sold-out event brought together 144 golfers on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the scenic Paradise Valley Golf Course in Fairfield. With perfect low-80s weather, camaraderie, and plenty of fun, the tournament was a resounding success.
Tournament Highlights
The day kicked off with a complimentary breakfast, and players enjoyed food and beverages throughout the event, creating a lively atmosphere across the course. Although no one claimed the hole-in-one prize of Super Bowl tickets, the challenge generated plenty of excitement.
First-place honors went to Underground Construction Team #1, led by Captain Garrett Ernhart, with teammates Lucas Boudreau, Paul Kaczmarek, and Paxton Garner, who posted an impressive score of 58. Finishing just one stroke behind, PAR WEST Team #1 — featuring Captain Chris Hess, along with Doug King, Ian Robinson, and Glen Frank — secured second place with a score of 59.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, IBEW 1245 member Ruben Lopez (PG&E Operating Clerk in Auburn), also known as DJ Wavy, provided music at hole 10. His music, combined with the beautiful course setting, made for a lively and memorable day.
Another highlight came at hole 17, where primary sponsor Boxer & Gerson treated players to complimentary drinks. The experience was elevated with cigars and golf swag from Stogies N Bogeys, a local business that quickly became a player favorite.
“We are truly thankful to all of our sponsors, staff, and volunteers whose efforts made this year’s North Valley Open such a success,” said IBEW 1245 Business Rep Gerald Williams, (NVO Chairman). “Our sponsors went above and beyond to make the day special, and their support — combined with the enthusiasm of our members — helped us sell out the event in less than three weeks. This kind of turnout highlights the strength of our union community, and we couldn’t be more appreciative.”
Voices from the Event
Among the many members who enjoyed the day was Brooke Thompson, a PG&E Apprentice Lineworker who also celebrated her birthday at the tournament.

Thanks to the overwhelming success of this year’s tournament, we are excited to announce that the North Valley Open will return to Paradise Valley Golf Course in early September 2026. To accommodate even more members, next year’s event will be held on a Saturday. Stay tuned for registration details — if this year’s sellout is any indication, spots will fill quickly.
