Steve Ramirez, Neil Norris, Kaycee King, Rafael Burgos – Yuba/Sutter Veterans Stand Down
On August 15, members of the IBEW 1245 Veterans Committee proudly participated in the 25th annual Yuba-Sutter Veterans Stand Down, held at the Yuba Sutter Fairgrounds in Yuba City, California.
Committee members Neil Norris (PG&E), Kaycee King (PG&E), Steve Ramirez (PG&E), and Rafael Burgos (SMUD) represented IBEW 1245 at the event, which provided critical services to Veterans of all ages and backgrounds. Attendees had access to on-site medical, dental, and vision care, DMV services, free meals, clothing, and dozens of community and organizational resources.

The Veterans Committee hosted a dedicated booth adorned with IBEW 1245 banners and stocked with union swag and informational pamphlets. Throughout the day, committee members spoke with hundreds of fellow Veterans, ranging from those currently serving to retirees, about the role of IBEW 1245, the benefits of Union membership, and the many potential career paths within the Brotherhood and Sisterhood.
In addition to connecting with individual Veterans, the committee also networked with other organizations and vendors in attendance. Conversations focused on building relationships, identifying opportunities for collaboration, and exploring ways to support future Veteran-focused events and fundraisers.
Yuba/Sutter Veterans Stand Down
“Events like this allow us to meet Veterans where they are, provide information about life-changing opportunities, and strengthen bonds with other organizations serving the Veteran community,” said Mike Tilden, Business Rep and chair of the Veterans Committee. “This was a very successful event, and we’re excited to build on the connections we made to expand our outreach at future Veteran events.”
