Sacramento – On June 10th, 2025, the SMUD Bargaining Committee went to the Table to begin bargaining in earnest with SMUD management.
The fourteen-member bargaining committee is comprised of twelve rank and file members, IBEW 1245 Senior Assistant Business Manager Dylan Gottfried and IBEW 1245 Business Representative Kim Camatti.
Gottfried, a seasoned labor negotiator, and Camatti, a former SMUD employee who has served on multiple SMUD bargaining committees in the past, bring twenty plus years of experience and are leading the negotiations.
Camatti reported that “Expectations are very high, especially as our members face high inflation over the last four years since we were last at the Table.”
According to Camatti, IBEW 1245 members submitted over 1,400 proposals, an historic level of participation. Committee members have read and analyzed each one. “Our team is 100% active. They’ve taken every step: printing, sorting, and assessing every single proposal. They’ve conducted the research, examined the data, looked at comparable properties and salary schedules for every classification leading to our final package,” she added.
In addition to extolling rank and file committee members, Camatti recognized the invaluable role of Dylan Gottfried, saying, “Dylan has brought exceptional expertise to the process, mentoring committee members and myself as well.”
For his part, Gottfried commended the dedication, unity, and personal sacrifice demonstrated by the bargaining committee. “These negotiations are no small feat—they require long hours, tough conversations, and a steadfast commitment to the membership. What I’ve witnessed from this committee is nothing short of extraordinary. Their work ethic, focus, and sense of responsibility to the bargaining unit have been unwavering. They’ve stepped away from their families, crews, and daily lives to fight for what’s right—shouldering the weight of this process with strength and pride. Their actions embody the true spirit of solidarity and the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood that define IBEW 1245. We stand stronger because of them—and together, we will continue to push forward.”
Camatti concurred, adding, “We are hopeful we will secure the best package possible for our members.”
