IBEW 1245/PG&E Lineman Rodeo 2025
Livermore, CA – On May 17, 2025, a wind-swept day, the IBEW 1245/PG&E Lineman’s Rodeo took place at the PG&E Training Center in Livermore.
The annual event serves as a qualifier for the Kansas City International Rodeo that takes place later in the year. It celebrates the lineman profession, showcasing the skills and safety of linemen provides a great venue for competition and camaraderie.
The rodeo has grown from a small event to a large-scale competition with numerous teams and spectators in the aftermath of Covid 19.
At this year’s event, twenty-four Journeyman Linemen Teams and thirty-seven Apprentice Linemen competed.
In addition to teams from IBEW 1245 and IBEW 47, PG&E, SCE, SMUD, MID, Sturgeon Electric, Summit Line, Rocky Mountain, Canus, Rokpower took part. They showcased an array of skills, including hurt-man rescue, speed pole climbs, hot stick & rubber glove events
More than fifty different sponsors / vendor booths were present at this year’s rodeo. Milwaukee, Buckingham, 3M, and other groups were among them. Long term IBEW 1245 member Damien Padilla & his crew held live lead cable splicing demo.
As Lineman competed, kids did rock climbing, enjoyed face painting, played corn hole, and donned lineman tools and got their picture taken.
IBEW 1245 Business Representative Ryan Skelton, one of the organizers of the day, reported, “It was a fun-filled day, albeit windy. I got to see familiar faces and catch up with friends I haven’t seen since last year’s rodeo. It’s always good to see family(s) come out and support the linemen as they compete.”
Congratulations to all who participated and organized to make the day a resounding success.
