Forty-eight years ago, IBEW 1245 member Pam Ramirez began her PG&E career in the Land Department as a Utility Clerk Stenographer.
Young, curious, sharp, a consumate professional with a infectious smile and easy manner, Ramirez began to make her mark at the company and with her customers and co-workers who loved her.
Over the coure of her career, Ramirez traversed several departments. She served as a Secretary C in the Gas Department and went on to become Secretary to the District Manager in Roseville working the counter. She worked as an Operating Clerk in the Compliance Department, and later in M&C and as a Routine Field Clerk in Hydro. She became a First Field Clerk in Tower/Transmission, and ultimately landed in GC Line where she works today.
Ramirez was regularly tapped to train new clerks across the company, often traveling to share her extensive expertise and institutional knowledge with fellow employees.
Her co-workers describe her as a mother figure. “She’s always taking care of them when they travel on storm damage, wild fires, or whatever natural disaster,” shared IBEW 1245 Business Representative Mike Saner who has known Ramirez for six years. “No task is too large or small. She’s always making sure they get their hotels or food when needed. If you need clothes to be cleaned or if you’re simply in need of clothes, she’ll take care of you and do whatever else is needed,” said Saner.
Ramirez has become an anchor for many who have been fortunate to cross her path, building the brotherhood at work and through social activitites, including her famous Christmas parties to which her crews get invited.
As Subforeman Richard Provance stated, “Pam is a great Clerk. She is always taking great care of us.”
Congratulations on reaching forty-eight years of service, Sister Ramirez.
