Reno – On Oct 15th IBEW 1245’s “Regulate the Voltage” (RTV) Peer-to-Peer Advisory Committee members made their first visit to NV Energy’s property. It is one of IBEW 1245’s 4 peer-to-peer safety committees. The RTV Committee promotes safety and mutual support in substation, generation and operations. They recruit and train Safety Stewards who provide peer-to-peer support for co-workers when safety issues arise.
Committee members visited NV Energy Subst
ation and System Protection groups and met with nearly sixty plus (60+) members about safety. They shared their safety pitch, some of their early progress, and short-term and long-term goals of the Committee. They also invited members to get involved by becoming Safety Stewards.
Later that morning, the group moved to Tracy Power Station, conducted a short tour and met with forty (40) members from the Operations and Maintenance group for a safety pitch.
The Committee finished out the day meeting with ten (10) Transmission, Balancing and Distribution Operators at the Electrical System Control Center.
The “Regulate the Voltage” Advisory Committee consists of Distribution Operators from NV Energy and SMUD, Transmission Operators from SMUD and PG&E, Substation personnel from NV Energy, SMUD, PG&E and a Power Plant Operator from NV Energy.
