IBEW Local 1245 is pleased to announce that it has contributed the maximum allowed $10,000 to Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo’s re-election campaign. Business Manager Bob Dean expressed pleasure with the Governor’s strong commitment to 1245 members.
“Governor Lombardo supported and signed legislation that protects 1245 members working in Nevada by enhancing criminal penalties for assaulting utility workers. The same bill also outlaws the sale of mylar balloons which frequently cause outages and are exceedingly difficult to remove once burned onto electrical lines and infrastructure.”
Dean also identified aggressive work by Nevada state government under Governor Lombardo that has brought over $2 billion dollars into the State from various federal government grants and programs for clean energy investment and manufacturing. This investment increases the amount of work for all 1245 members working in Nevada.
Finally, Governor Lombardo issued an Executive Order outlining “energy independence” for Nevada by increasing in-state energy supply sufficient to meet all the demand needs. The new projects will include generation, transmission and distribution to support much higher future electricity use. This will ensure reliable energy supply is available to all Nevadans when they need it most and to sustain continued economic growth in the State now and into the future.
Dean also stated, “these steps by Governor Lombardo will create additional jobs for 1245 members and reinforce the value of the utility model for electricity service, thereby protecting our members’ jobs with NV Energy and the Coops.”
Assistant Business Manager Hunter Stern added that “Governor Lombardo, his Staff and his Office of Energy Director Dwayne McClinton have been exceptionally good to work with. They are receptive to ideas which create jobs and utilize existing high skilled workers in Nevada.”
