Brother Marty Kumle has joined the staff of IBEW 1245 as a Business Rep. In his new role, Brother Kumle will be temporarily stepping into Mike Venturino’s assignment, working closely with members at the Truckee Meadows Water Authority, City of Fernley, Frontier — Elko, Lassen Municipal Utility District, Mt. Wheeler Power Company, Plumas Sierra REC, Truckee-Donner P.U.D., and Wells Rural Electric Company.
Kumle is a third-generation IBEW member with 26 years of dedicated service. Over the course of his career at NV Energy, he has held various roles, beginning as a meter reader and moving on to the Natural Gas department, where he served as a Heavy Gas Crew Foreman for 12 years. His most recent position was in System Control as a Distribution Operator.
Kumle has always been actively involved in the union, serving on the negotiations committee and the inaugural steering committee for the Control the Pressure peer-to-peer safety initiative. He has also been a long-time shop steward, Vice Chair for the NV Energy Reno unit, and has participated in several union committees, including labor/management, benefits, and bargaining.
When asked about joining the staff, he shared, “The decision to join the team was an easy one for me. I want to work with and for the industry’s best, and the members that IBEW 1245 represents are elite and excel in their roles. I also appreciate that the IBEW was founded on safety. It’s crucial that each of us returns home to our loved ones after a long day at work.”
