Today, the US Supreme Court blocked the Biden Administration’s COVID vaccine Emergency Temporary Standard (as implemented by OSHA) for businesses with more than 100 employees, while also declining to overturn the mandate for medical facilities that take Medicare or Medicaid payments.
“Today’s decision affirms what we’ve been articulating since Day 1,” said IBEW 1245 Business Manager Bob Dean. “While we recognize the importance and value of vaccines, we do not believe that the White House has the authority to mandate them for millions of workers.”
These Supreme Court rulings do not impact the vaccine rule for federal contractors, which is still working its way through the courts.
“We are hopeful that the courts will issue a similar ruling in the case of federal contractor mandate that applies to our members at PG&E,” Dean added.
