We are unfortunately still seeing staggeringly high COVID-19 virus numbers throughout our jurisdiction, as well as all across the nation. As of this week, one in 1,000 Americans has died of COVID. News reports indicate that many California ICUs are near or at capacity, and the COVID case count statewide is three times higher than it was just one month ago. Although news of the vaccine’s arrival has been heralded, the pandemic is still far from over, and we must remain vigilant in our efforts to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and our co-workers safe and healthy.
The IBEW 1245 staff and leadership continues to monitor the situation closely, and based on guidance from the CDC, the State, municipalities, and our International union, all in-person unit meetings will remain cancelled for at least the first three months of 2021. We encourage you to contact your Business Rep with any questions and/or to find out if there are informal/virtual unit meetings for your workgroup.
Our January Advisory Council meeting is also cancelled, and our Service Awards/Pin Dinners and all other events are postponed until further notice.
We will continue to post updates as the circumstances merit. We look forward to a time in the future when we can resume our in-person meetings and events.
Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and healthy New Year.
