Speaker Nancy Pelosi named Cathy Feingold and Fred Ross, Jr. to the Independent Mexico Labor Expert Board, which was created under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement Implementation Act to monitor and evaluate the implementation of Mexico’s labor reforms and compliance with its labor obligations. All appointees to the twelve-member Board will serve a six year term.
“Fred Ross, Jr. carries on a long legacy of labor rights organizing and advocacy,” added Speaker Pelosi. “Mentored by legendary labor rights advocates César Chávez, Dolores Huerta and his father, Fred Ross, Sr., he has spent his career lifting up the voices of vulnerable and disenfranchised workers throughout the U.S. and Central America. As a public servant and founder of Neighbor to Neighbor, a grassroots labor rights advocacy group, Fred Ross, Jr. has been on the frontlines of the global workers’ rights movement and committed himself to advancing bold, progressive labor laws that respect the dignity of all workers. His passion, knowledge and commitment to workers’ rights will be critical to the Board’s important mission.”
