This week, Gov. Jerry Brown signed IBEW 1245’s two highest priority pieces of legislation into law.
On Wednesday, Gov. Brown signed SB 1090 (Monning), which will require the CPUC to restore the three key components of the original Diablo Canyon Power Plant Joint Proposal Agreement. IBEW 1245 played a key role in crafting, introducing and passing this bill, and Business Manager Tom Dalzell sent Gov. Brown a personal letter, urging him to sign it. Read the letter here.
On Friday, Gov. Brown signed SB 901 (Dodd), also known as the wildfire conference committee report. IBEW 1245 was actively involved in the development of this critical legislation, and hundreds of union members lobbied legislators during the final week of the session to ensure its passage. “Wildfires in California aren’t going away, and we have to do everything possible to prevent them,” said Brown in a statement. “This bill is complex and requires investment – but it’s absolutely necessary.”
