IBEW local 1245 recently sent a group of delegates to the Nevada State AFL-CIO 59th Annual Constitutional Convention held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The main theme of the convention was “Never Again! Working Families Matter.” Workshops and presentations told the story of how a group of anti-worker Nevada legislators were spearheading the charge to bring about takeaways to the unions in Nevada.
A big thank-you was given to the legislators that stood up to back the unions and engaged in the struggle to beat back the anti-union majority in the State Legislature. Our retired members from NARA were also present and received a big thanks for all their assistance in the cause.
Numerous leaders, including Senator Harry Reid, talked about the fight for workers’ rights and what we have to do to not let this happen in the next election cycle. Three candidates for President — Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and Martin O’Malley — were present and spoke on the importance of the next presidential election.
