The Yerington Chapter of the IBEW 1245 Retirees Club hosted a Christmas party at El Superior Restaurant and invited members from the Carson City, Reno, Sparks, Minden, Winnemucca, Tonopah, & Smith Valley retiree chapters to join them. Attendance has continually grown each year and for the Yerington third Christmas party there were 20 people in attendance. Yerington’s special Guest of Honor was Scott Watts, Nevada Alliance for Retired Americans (NARA) out-going president, who was joined by his wife Susan.
President Tom Bird offered a hearty introduction of each of the guests, and then Scott Watts shared an informative presentation on the history of NARA and its formation. He began with the history of the National Council of Senior Citizens (NCSC) and its transformation into NARA.
The presentation was followed by a tasty meal and the distribution of door prizes, which were provided to the chapter by private donors. The donations afforded the chapter to present each guest (or couple) with a gift, for a total of 12 door prizes, and 3 special gifts.
The evening ended with cake, laughter and more camaraderie. The Yerington Chapter also picked up dinner and sent the extra cake home with those who like cake. In the enjoyment of the evening, pictures were forgotten but memories were shared by all that attended and carried back to their homes in Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Minden, & Smith Valley. The Events Committee, Judy and Bob Grush, agreed that this was the best party to date and all enjoyed the evening. It was another party to remember. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
