The Yerington Chapter of the IBEW 1245 Retirees Club held a yard sale on Saturday, October 18th at the home of in Luther & Alyce Reese. The event raised $689, and all of the proceeds were donated to the local Salvation Army’s “Angel Tree” program, which helps struggling families purchase holiday gifts for their children.
The retirees set up the evening before, and the sale kicked off on Saturday morning at 7:45am. Walt & Paulene Plett brought donuts, and Jim Hill and Bob Grush provided the coffee. Sale items included clothing, household goods, a lawn mower, furniture, tires, fishing supplies, archery items, bicycles, patio furniture, yard art items and even a few pet cages.
Judy Grush and Shelia Hill worked as the cashiers and kept quite busy. 75% of the items were sold off that day, and the Reese’s daughter and her husband delivered the unsold items to the Boys and Girls Club Thrift Store in Yerlington.
