Election 2014: Local Races Make a Difference

October 14, 2014

“All politics is local.”

This phrase is more than just a popular adage, it’s a truism that can mean the difference between a quality union contract and a series of concessions and takeaways. Just look at the City of Redding, where an IBEW-endorsed candidate for city council lost by just eight votes — and the end result was devastating for the IBEW members.

Your vote is your voice. With the election just weeks away, now is the time to make a difference in the local elections in your area. If you haven’t already, be sure to register to vote this week before October 20th. To register to vote in California, click here.

IBEW 1245 has endorsed the following candidates for the November 2014 Election, based on their track record and support for working families. (Scroll down to the bottom of the page for Nevada races.) Be sure to check out the latest edition of the Utility Reporter to view our Election Guide for information on other important races.

There’s still time to volunteer and help get out the vote in your area. To get involved, contact your local labor council.
