California Statewide Ballot Measures

Proposition 1:  Funding for Water Quality, Supply, Treatment, and Storage Projects. NO POSITION
Prop 1 would allow the state of California to sell $7.1billion in additional general obligation bonds to fund various water-related programs.

Proposition 2: State Budget. Budget Stabilization Account.   NO POSITION
Prop. 2 would amend the StateConstitutiontochangehowthestatepaysdowndebtandsavesmoneyin reserves.

Proposition 45: Healthcare Insurance. Rate Changes. NO POSITION
Prop 45 would require the Insurance Commissioner’s approval before changes in some health insurance rates for individual and employer small-group plan could go into effect.

Proposition 46: Drug and Alcohol Testing of Doctors. Medical Negligence Lawsuits. NO POSITION
Prop 46 would require random drug testing of doctors, require doctors to check a statewide database before prescribing certain drugs, and raise the cap on noneconomic damages in medical negligence lawsuits.

Proposition 47: Criminal Sentences. Misdemeanor Penalties. YES
Prop 47 would reduce penalties for certain offenders convicted of non-serious, non-violent crimes from felonies to misdemeanors. 

Proposition 48: Referendum on Indian Gaming Compacts. YES
Prop 48 asks voters to approve or reject gaming compacts that Gov. Brown negotiated with the North Fork and Wiyot tribes.
