USA Today hit the nail on the head when it said, “For the Fast Food Industry… [low wages] is the issue that just won’t go away.” And the issue exploded May 15, with worker strikes in 150 cities and over 30 countries on six continents.
Calling for $15 and the right to form a union without retaliation, fast-food workers all over the globe, including California cities like Sacramento, Oakland and LA walked off their jobs on May 15. Strikes at major fast-food restaurants in California included McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Jack-in-the-Box, Del Taco and KFC.
