Local unions with labor agreements with MidAmerican Energy met in Orlando, FL recently to discuss strategy.
The company, headed by billionaire Warren Buffett, has not been a very cooperative partner in labor-management relations through the years. MidAmerican Energy acquired NV Energy toward the end of 2013, and IBEW 1245 actively encouraged the locals to join together to form a united front in bargaining with Buffett.
The unions are now officially a part of Utility Coordinating Council #7. Although IBEW 1245 has several years left in its current labor agreement with MidAmerican, some of the other locals are facing bargaining in the near future.
The unions in the Council are Locals 57, 109, 125 , 396, 499, 659, and 1245. The president is Brent Donohue, Local 57. The vice president is Travis Eli, Local 125. The secretary-treasurer is Tom Dalzell, Local 1245.
