TransCanada negotiations suspended
TransCanada and IBEW Local 1245 negotiations have been suspended as of May 9 2012. No further meetings have been scheduled.
The current contract, which covers 47 IBEW members, is under an automatic extension until 3/31/2013, where all current contract provisions remain in full force. The company has requested medical monthly payments of between $100 to $220, while offering a cost of living wage increase of 0.5% for the first year, 1.5% for the second year, 1.5% for the third year, and 0.5% for the fourth year. The company refused to consider a $.75 per hour wage adjustment for low wage Utility Workers and Clerical members, and they also refused to consider a proposal for doubletime for all overtime, as what is paid in Canada.
TransCanada has yearly net profits of from $1.22 Billion to $1.58 Billion over the last 5 years.
The IBEW Local 1245 negotiating committee is open to meet with TransCanada whenever and wherever a meeting is suggested.
