IBEW Local 1245 member Dennis Romeo could use support from IBEW Local 1245 members in his pursuit of a position on the Reno City Council.
Dennis is a former Sierra Pacific Resources employee who transferred to Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) during the divestiture. He is a 17-year Local 1245 member and was the first Unit chair for the TMWA unit.
Dennis has participated on TMWA bargaining committees, has attended the Nevada AFL-CIO COPE Convention, and has walked for labor candidates. He recently received an endorsement and donation from Local 1245’s Executive Board.
As one of seven candidates, Dennis must first place in the top two in the upcoming June 12 primary election. If he wins a seat on the Reno City Council, Dennis would have the possibility of also sitting on the TMWA Board once he retires as a TMWA employee in December 2012.
It would be an asset to the citizens of Reno to have a person of Dennis’s caliber on the City Council, and he would be an excellent member of the TMWA Board, helping assure that union members’ concerns would get a fair hearing.
Local 1245 urges our members in the Reno area to support Dennis Romeo in the upcoming primary. Volunteer to help him if you can (call 775 843-8224), and be sure to vote on June 12!
