Close to 400 union members, friends and family members gathered in Livermore on May 21 to enjoy Local 1245‘s First Annual Gold Cup Soccer Tournament.
Eight teams consisting mostly of union Line Clearance Tree Trimmers competed in the four-game tournament while friends and family soaked up the sun and dined on fresh-made tacos and cold beverages. Kids competed in their own unofficial soccer games and smacked around a couple of candy-laden piñatas as well.
Capturing first place in the tournament was the Silver team sponsored by Trees Inc., SMUD/San Joaquin. Second place went to the Light Blue team sponsored by Davey Tree, Santa Rosa. Third place went to the Purple team, sponsored by Trees Inc., Fresno Division.
Medals were presented by Local 1245 Business Manager Tom Dalzell.
The other teams competing were:
Gold, sponsored by Davey Tree, Marin
