Members of IBEW Local 1245 at NV Energy sent the company’s “last, best” contract offer into the dead letter basket with a resounding 93% of voters casting”No” votes.
There was extremely high turnout for the vote, indicating deep member engagement in the protracted contract struggle with NV Energy management. Of 622 ballots mailed (including 598 in the inital mailing and 24 additional ballots sent to members who were not on the original mailing list), 512 were returned, meaning that a whopping 83% of all eligible voters cast their ballots. This exceeded the union’s goal of 80% turnout, as shown on the thermometer at right.
